I would like to address your concerns as to the cost of the showcase and how we use the money raised.
To my knowledge the cost of the showcase has remained unchanged for the last nine years. As a registered charity we are not trying to generate a profit from our activities but running costs do need to be met and unfortunately £5 per family will not cover the costs of running the evening. Any additional money raised above the running costs is used, along with surpluses from After School Clubs and Holiday Workshops, to ensure that participation in the Pantomome and summer productions is free of charge to our members. We cannot raise enough money to cover the costs of these productions by ticket sales alone and do not wish to introduce additional fees that will result in many of our members being unable to participate.

I will send a letter to all of our parents explaining about the showcases and how we use the small profit made.

I would also like to stress that any parent who is having difficulty with either fees or supporting our events should speak to me in confidence. We do not want any family to
miss out on our showcase evenings

Well done to all on a really great showcase last night and thanks for everyone’s hard work in putting it together. The scripts were great and all the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

I felt I had to write however regarding the cost of entry to see the show. At the current level it will undoubtedly preclude some families from enjoying the only opportunity to see all the great stuff that goes on during classes – indeed it could and I know will preclude some parents being able to attend in future. Full production musicals put on at the Ferneham Hall by Stage One only cost a couple of pounds more per ticket – this just seems a lot to ask on top of the cost per term for classes.

I believe it was mentioned to some parents last night that the ticket price for last night was such because there are no plans to charge for the Christmas production – could you confirm if that’s the case?

I believe most people (certainly the parents I know) would be happy to pay something towards attending these events, most felt that £5 per family was far more reasonable, if this additional funding is needed by the Company to keep the show on the road.

I’d be grateful for your thoughts.
