      Aladdin

      By Dave Jeanes

      Director: Neil Gibbs

      Choreographer: Tina Kerton

After the success of Little Red Riding Hood, Neil and Tina have returned to produce this lively and fun pantomime. Written by Dave Jeanes and published by the local Lazy Bee scripts the Panto follows all the usual Panto traditions with gags a plenty.

Aladdin is in love with the Empresses daughter So Shi, yet there is a problem as anyone who sees the Princesses face is executed. Aladdin needs to be rich and through his estranged Uncle ‘arry Baxter or is it Have a Banana? Sorry I meant Abanazar, the dame and Emperor has the same problem, he gains a strange friend, can he be trusted?

Aladdin finds an old lamp and The Genie attempts to save the day, yet Abanazar tries to steal the glory for himself. With Widow Twankey following close by calamity is never far behind. Whilst Twankey is trying to save poor Aladdin from the noose, her son is busy inventing the cheese less mouse trap and the electric dark bulb!

With a cast of over 35 children the numbers are big and colourful. The Ages of the cast range from 8-18 so fun is guaranteed for all the family.

This Production is free for the Gantry Youth Members, who qualify through an audition process and will be the first of two major productions this academic year.

The next will be in the summer of 2009, The tragical Comedy of Macbeth, written by our own Creative Director Neil Gibbs
